handsoffmyhobby is an independent guide to freshwater aquariums, published in English, French, Spanish, German and Italian. It exists to help hobbyists keep healthy fish, shrimp and plants with clear, sourced and practical information.
What handsoffmyhobby covers
The site focuses on freshwater only. No marine or reef content, so every page can go deep on the tanks most people actually keep.

Our approach
Every guide is written to be sourced, practical and animal welfare first. We rely on reference sources such as FishBase and the scientific literature, give ranges rather than false precision, and recommend the larger tank or the gentler option when in doubt.
Measurements are given in metric units on every version, with gallons, inches and °F added on the English site. Each language version is written for its own readers, with local product names and hobby vocabulary, not translated word for word.
What handsoffmyhobby is not
handsoffmyhobby is not a shop: we do not sell fish, plants or equipment. Product rankings are never sponsored, and no brand can pay to appear in a guide. Some product links may be affiliate links; the affiliate disclosure explains how this works and why it does not change our choices.
handsoffmyhobby is not a veterinary service either. Health pages give general, conservative guidance; for a sick fish that does not improve, an aquatic veterinarian is the right person to see.
